Three years ago today I was in an operating theatre when I discovered that the second boy we were pretty sure we were having was in fact a girl.

May God grant his handmaiden Abigail many years!

    Happy birthday, Abigail! It’s just so much better being a girl – you’ll always have nicer clothes and you’ll never have to pick up bugs unless you want to show off. Mnogay aleta!

    Just looked at “The List”, that’s my 63 pages of densely typed women saints of the Orthodox Church and on the 11th of May we have Principia, Virgin and Recluse in Rome and disciple of St Marcella, d.c. 420. When I was just a little older than Abigail I started obsessing about having a “girl” saint for every day – hopefully she will do more useful things but incase she doesn’t here’s a start 😉

    Hi David,

    Congratulations. That also means you’ve made it past the terrible twos, for which, as I recall our experience, additional congratulations and great celebration are due.

  6. Honey says:

    “May the Lord bless Abby and keep her;
    May the Lord make His face to shine upon her
    and be gracious to her;
    May the Lord turn His face toward Abby and give her peace.”
    (Nu. 6:24-26)
    May Abby sing praises to the Lord all the days of her long life.
